Instead, they simply manage the symptoms, such as excessive sweating, through their breathable, moisture-wicking fabric. We wanted to see if the sheets would stand up to the arguably hotter Miami nights, so we tested a set for weeks. Here’s what we thought.
Material: Breathable
The Original PeachSkinSheets says that its fabric is made of “high performance, athletic grade, breathable fabric,” which translates to 100 percent synthetic poly microfiber. This material allows the fabric to be breathable and moisture-wicking while remaining cozy. The dry-brushed fabric is also hypoallergenic and antimicrobial, so those with sensitive skin or allergies will benefit from less irritation. The “smart fabric” (as it’s called by PeachSkinSheets) is made to be durable. It has an anti-pill finish, it’s anti-snag, and it won’t shrink or stretch. Plus, colors won’t fade, whites won’t gray, and it’s stain-resistant. This is quite a list, but in the few weeks that we’ve used the sheets, we found all of these claims to be true.
Thread Count: Characteristic of a much higher-priced sheet set
Microfiber doesn’t have a thread count, but that’s how most people shop for sheets. The manufacturer of this set claims that the brushed finish gives them a luxurious feel equivalent to a 1500 thread count.
Texture: Soft right out of the package
The sheets had that just-washed softness right out of the package, in contrast to other sheets that can feel too stiff when new. Even with this softness, the sheets felt substantial and strong but not overly thick. They retained this texture throughout weeks of use and after washing.
Key Features: Keeps you dry despite night sweats
Right away, we noticed that the material did not feel as cool to the touch as our usual cotton sheets, which made us skeptical that they would do what they were supposed to do. However, we woke up that first night around 3 a.m. under a thick pile of blankets and noticed we felt drier and more comfortable than usual. As the nights went on, we continued to feel comfortable night after night. These PeachSkinSheets have officially kicked our old sheets out of bed.
Washing: Fast to dry
PeachSkinSheets recommends washing in cold or warm (never hot) water and drying on medium (never high) heat. If you go above those suggested settings or use an iron on the sheets, you risk breaking down the fabric, causing it to pill. The directions say that the sheets will dry wrinkle-free in 15 to 20 minutes—and they did. These came out of the dryer perfectly dry and ready to put onto the bed, which is a testament to their quick-dry nature given the sad state of the communal laundry we use. Not only did the set maintain its softness, but makeup stains on the pillow were also gone, and there wasn’t any pilling or damage.
Price: Right where it should be
The set which comes with a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and two pillowcases, has an MSRP of $119.95 for a twin-size bed all the way up to $159.95 for a California king-size bed. However, depending on size and shade, these sheets can be found for as low as $90. That may still seem steep for some, but these do have a 30-day money-back guarantee should you decide they aren’t worth the cost. Considering the high quality of these sheets, we’d argue they could even be sold for more.
Competition: Comparable options
There are so many cooling sheets on the market. These bamboo sheets from Cosy House Collection have a comparable MSRP but often sell for half the price of the ones we tested. Like PeachSkinSheets, bamboo sheets incorporate microfiber into the fabric to keep them cooling, breathable, and durable. Another popular option is the COOLEX Ultra-Soft Sheets. At around $109 for the twin-size set, these sheets are about the same price as PeachSkinSheets, but they have the added benefit of keeping users from getting too hot in the first place. The company says that its fabric transfers body heat two times more effectively than cotton. There are only eight neutral colors to choose from, however, compared to PeachSkinSheets’ 19 shades.
